Limp Lettuce Found Again at Fresh & Easy

March 29, 2009

I got the Greek salad from Fresh and Easy and it was very disappointing - just some hacked up leaves thrown haphazardly in a container. (Trader Joe’s has much better salad presentation.) The leaves did not remain fresh for longer than a day despite the freshness date on the package.  Is this because Fresh and Easy does not use preservatives, artificial flavorings and colorings?  Has anyone else received limp, brown lettuce from this place?  This is the second time I’ve brought home salad from them and saw it turn brown within a day.

Anyhow and regardless of my disappointment with F&E, I still find myself drawn to the place and buying chocolate chip granola bars from them.

  2. ah! i just brought home a salad from F&E and also found brown limp lettuce. F&E is FAIL for their salads. but, i do like their premade soups.

  4. This has happened to me twice with their packaged Roma tomatoes. When I opened them at home a day or two later I found out at least one was already rotten, hidden from quick inspection in the store by the packaging. Coincidence or purposeful?

  5. Lena, Thx for your comment. I’m leaning to purposeful… Did you happen to see my post on expired foods on the shelves of Whole Foods and TJ’s? I definitely think that’s purposeful.
