Friday Fun

November 1, 2007

On Friday, November 2, Caltech will have their first annual Olive Harvest Festival when the whole campus will be picked clean of its olives.  Then the olives will be pressed and sold as olive oil for a campus fundraiser.  The day will be full of olive picking, demonstrations, and food tastings.  Sounds very weird and interesting - this is part of Caltech’s efforts to be a green campus.  You can be part of the festivities by clicking here.  Volunteer pickers are needed and ladder safety training is on Thursday.

*** UPDATE:   Here are some photos of the olive harvesting from Tableau Vivante.  It looked like fun; I wish I could have made it.  ***

Then in the evening, head over to the Norton Simon where the first Friday of the month is free admission from 6 pm - 9 pm.  What a nice way to wind down the work week - with ancient scupltures from India and a great art collection.  The Norton Simon has a very surprising collection and the space is truly beautiful.    www.nortonsimon.org
