Discovery of the Day - $8 Cuban Food in Alhambra - DELICIOUS!
I had eaten at Cuban Bistro when it first opened and wasn’t that impressed, but I made a pit stop there recently and OMG, it’s DELICIOUS. For $8, I had their guava chicken dish, black beans and rice, and plaintains. It was one of their many lunch specials which are all around $8 or under for sandwiches. The portion was hearty for me and became lunch, dinner, and a midnight snack. I was very happy that day; I could eat here everyday. It was much better than Versailles, not as oily. I only wished there were some vegetables in the mix. I got the chicken to go, ate outside by the Alhambra movie theatre, all the while enjoying my USA Today.
Cuban Bistro has happy hours, plus a dance floor. The whole vibe of this place is elegant, upscale (in Alhambra!?) and feels quite grand. I can see this as a great date restaurant, romantic at night, or casual-nice during the day, with intriguing ambience to start a conversation.
I will see you at their next happy hour. Free parking all around; that is another joy of Alhambra: plentiful parking. For anyone outside of the SGV, this place is worth the drive.
